Global Reporting Initiative Framework  - Cuyahoga County 2011 Budget, Sustainability Objectives benchmark international standards  - other projects include

Lake Erie Wind Power Pilot and Research Center

Great Lakes Renewable Energy Task Force  - The Lake Erie Wind Power Project seeks to build county renewable energy capacity, foster green energy innovation, revitalize local manufacture & service providers, incentives growth, improve health of environment. Attract of international investment in Cuyahoga County.

Cuyahoga County Planning Commission
  • Working with industry in Cuyahoga tributary watershed to foster profitable industry through sustainable means.  Recapturing natural green space at the mouth of the Cuyahoga River.
  • Nationally recognized environmental pilot projects
  • Defining a comprehensive plan for regaining green space throughout county

Operational energy conservation & efficiency

Department of Central Services
  • Reducing fossil fuel emissions – through installation of 85% ethanol fuel pump & replacing fleet with flex-fuel vehicles totaling 29% of county owned vehicles to date
  • Energy Audits of all county owned buildings and corrective action in 2001 reducing the county energy consumption over 5%.  
  • Installation of a county 85% ethanol fuel pump along with a county vehicle replacement program resulting in 29% of county owned vehicles being flex-fuel vehicles this year.
  • All new county owned building are being designed to meet LEED certification standards.
