Winter 2010
On October 6, 2009 a Multi-County Regional Summit was convened at The Forum Conference Center by Paul Oyaski the director of Cuyahoga County’s Department of Development. The Summit brought together economic development directors and their staffs from Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina and Cuyahoga Counties. These five counties comprise NOACA.
Fall 2009
Earlier this year, President Barack Obama signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) into law. As a result of this law, funds have been distributed throughout the country to assist local communities, residents, governments and other agencies with stabilizing and reinvesting in their communities. As the entitlement agency for the smaller suburban communities the Department of Development has received more than $12.4 million in ARRA funding. These dollars will be used to weatherize homes, to remediate brownfield’s, and to help fund large infrastructure projects in local communities.
Summer 2009
Cuyahoga County implemented the Community Assessment
Initiative in 2003 with a $400,000 U.S.EPA Assessment Grant and has received an additional $1,200,000 in three subsequent funding rounds. The Community Assessment Initiative is a key component to the County’s brownfield strategy by characterizing and assessing a variety of brownfield sites contaminated with hazardous substances and/or petroleum so they can be cleaned up and redeveloped.

The Cleveland Jet Center is committed to being the leader in business aviation services by providing customers and employees uncompromised safety, exceptional quality and unparalleled customer service.
Fall 2008
Cuyahoga County in association with the Great Lakes Energy Development Task Force is pleased to release initial findings from the ongoing Great Lakes Wind Energy Center Feasibility Study. The preliminary reports address the wind resource, the geological conditions, and the ecology environment of Lake Erie within three to five miles of the Downtown Cleveland shoreline.

Summer 2008
On April 28, 2008 at the Forum Conference Center in downtown Cleveland, Lieutenant Governor Lee Fisher presented his plan for Ohio’s prosperity to more than 75 business leaders. The “plan” was created to make Ohio more globally competitive, and more importantly, grow Ohio’s economy. The plan calls for strategic partnerships and investments in business, industry, communities and regions, and the development of workforce and talent.
Spring 2008
This year our County is celebrating its bicentennial, and we have enjoyed tremendous growth! In 1808 our initial settlement was 1,459. Today, we have more than 1.3 million residents of the County who reside in 59 communities. In celebration of this momentous occasion, the County is planning a host of activities throughout this year and extending the celebration through 2010.
Winter 2008
The Cuyahoga County Board of Commissioners approved five Commercial Redevelopment Fund (CRF) loans in the final quarter of 2007. Created in June 2007, the CRF is a pilot program specifically designed to overcome barriers to the full re-use of abandoned, idle or underutilized commercial, industrial and institutional properties within Cuyahoga County.
